Barbara Anason oversees the Vizient™ strategic planning process that produces services and solutions to address the unique needs of academic medical centers. She leads the body of work dedicated to advancing knowledge exchange, discovery and collaboration of member networks.

Prior to this role, Anason led the marketing and communications strategy for University HealthSystem Consortium to support member engagement and business development. In this role, she oversaw marketing functions, including corporate communications, website and electronic channels, and brand management, while working with supply contracting company Novation to ensure alignment of member communications. Anason managed the corporate strategic planning function including the Chief Marketing Officers Council and Global Executive Services Council.

She previously held positions at First Health, formerly HealthCare Compare, where she established and managed the organization’s first full-service marketing and sales support department. She was also associate director of marketing for The Joint Commission.

Anason earned bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing from Elmhurst College and a master’s degree from Lewis University.
