Barbara Anason oversees Vizient’s University Health System Consortium Networks, which engage more than 7,000 member representatives in networks and events that advance the success and ongoing transformation of the nation’s foremost academic medical centers (AMCs) through discovery, knowledge sharing, learning, collaboration and innovation with trusted peers and other industry leaders. Working with the Vizient University Health System Consortium Board of Managers and the AMC CEO Executive Board, she helps ensure that the unique needs of the AMCs are addressed.
Prior to this role, Anason led the marketing, communications, and strategic planning functions for the University HealthSystem Consortium to support member engagement and business development. In this role, she oversaw marketing functions, including corporate communications, website and electronic channels, and brand management, while working with corporate partners to ensure alignment of member communications. Anason managed Board and peer networking communications and enterprise initiatives and led the Chief Marketing Officers and Global Executive Services councils as well as the university hospital special interest group of the International Hospital Federation.
She previously held positions at First Health, formerly HealthCare Compare, where she established and managed the organization’s first full-service marketing and sales support department. She was also associate director of marketing for The Joint Commission.
Anason earned bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing from Elmhurst College and a master’s degree from Lewis University.
