Jody Hatcher leads Vizient’s™ sourcing; supply chain operations; supply networks; Provista; aptitude; Apexus; national and geographic networks and performance improvement collaboratives; and Academic Medical Center networks.

Hatcher has more than 26 years of experience helping hospitals drive down supply costs through innovative and relevant solutions, most recently as president and chief executive officer of Novation, now part of Vizient. Under Hatcher’s leadership, Novation achieved record-breaking member savings and consistently increased member participation across the company’s industry-leading contract portfolio. He also spearheaded Novation’s investment of more than $50 million to build the health care industry’s most powerful data assets and leading-edge analytic solutions, which have yielded more than $2 billion in price savings over the last seven years. Today, these solutions provide the end-to-end systems, processes and capabilities hospitals need to measure, track and improve their clinical, operational and financial performance.

During his tenure with the company, Hatcher has led a number of key business areas across Novation, including: strategic sourcing; member and market research; strategic planning; comparative analysis; custom contracting services; regional contracting services; business development; information technology; operational improvement; and marketing. He has also led a variety of key initiatives such as Novation’s first entry into the global marketplace through Novation’s partnership with DHL in the United Kingdom.

Hatcher played a crucial and visible public role in Novation’s public policy efforts. In 2013, he affirmed the company’s position that the medical device manufacturers should not pass the medical device tax on to the member hospitals served by Novation. Also, he was instrumental in directing Novation’s efforts that encourage the increased production of critical drugs and those drugs in short supply, thereby helping to mitigate the impact of the industry’s drug shortage crisis. In addition, Hatcher has served as Chairman of the Board for the Healthcare Industry Supply Chain Association, and he previously served for six years as a member of the Board of Directors for the Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) and its audit and compliance committee. He is currently the Chairman of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative, the healthcare industry’s initiative to promote best business practices and ethics.

Under Hatcher’s leadership, Novation became the only company in the health care industry to earn both the World’s Most Ethical Companies honor for four consecutive years and the Ethics Inside® Certification for two consecutive terms.

Hatcher earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his master's degree in business administration from the University of Dallas.
