Vizient partnership helps East Alabama Health reach performance improvement goals
IRVING, Texas, March 18, 2026 — Vizient®, the nation’s largest provider-driven healthcare performance improvement company, today announced that East Alabama Health has successfully achieved the performance and cost improvement goals outlined through its collaboration with Vizient — ahead of schedule.
East Alabama partnered with Vizient in 2023 to address financial and workforce pressures facing hospitals nationwide. Leaders sought a partner who could provide innovative solutions, deep analytics, and national aggregation opportunities to help strengthen operational efficiency and reduce costs without compromising patient care.
Through its participation in Vizient’s Spend Management solutions including the industry-leading catalog of services and supplies, East Alabama has realized measurable improvements across multiple areas of the organization: capital asset management, pharmacy and indirect spend (goods and services not related to patient care).
“We are taking a strategic, data-driven approach to improving efficiency,” said Oliver Banta, M.A., MBA, MSF, FACHE, CHCIO, chief business services and information officer at East Alabama Health. “This collaboration supports our ongoing efforts to navigate rising costs and workforce challenges while continuing to deliver high-quality care to the communities we serve.”
“East Alabama’s success shows the impact of strong leadership paired with Vizient’s expertise and scale,” said Rand Ballard, Vizient chief customer officer. “By leveraging national programs and local execution, East Alabama has demonstrated what’s possible when efficiency and quality are pursued together.”
