Erin Shepherd, MS, RDN, LD
As senior director of the Food as Medicine Program at Vizient, Erin Shepherd focuses on connecting hospitals to the suppliers, community resources, and data framework they need to provide food as medicine programming that drives improved patient outcomes. A registered and licensed dietitian since 2006, she has extensive experience in the healthcare setting, in both inpatient and outpatient environments. She has expertise in sourcing and purchasing, supplier partnerships, clinical education, health record workflow integration, and value-based care models. Prior to joining Vizient in 2023, she served as director of clinical nutrition at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She has served as an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) site reviewer, conducting accreditation surveys for nutrition and dietetics undergraduate and graduate education programs. Erin holds a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and food science from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in health professions education from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
