Walter Morrissey, MD

Managing Director, Practice Leader, Clinical Solutions

As managing director and practice leader of the Clinical Solutions practice at the consulting and advisory firm Kaufman Hall, a Vizient company, Walter W. Morrissey, MD, leads a national team of approximately 80 specialists focused on clinical quality, operations and high reliability. The Clinical Solutions team supports providers in executing clinical strategies across the care continuum.

Dr. Morrissey partners with hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers to design and optimize regional delivery networks, strengthen clinical and physician alignment and lead enterprise transformation in preparation for the continued shift to value-based healthcare. He helps clients improve performance, accelerate integration and position their enterprises for sustainable growth — delivering strategic clarity, actionable roadmaps and measurable enterprise impact.

A respected industry leader and trusted advisor to executives and boards for more than 25 years, Dr. Morrissey brings experience as a clinician, administrator and strategic consultant. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and industry forums on topics including clinical transformation, physician alignment and healthcare delivery strategy. In addition to his client work, he serves on the Board of Directors of Chicago Rivet & Machine Company (NYSE American: CVR). He previously served for 15 years on the Board of Directors of Algonquin State Bank and as a member of the Clinical Advisory Panel for Santé Health Ventures. He also practiced part-time for nearly a decade as a board-certified internist at Hines VA Hospital.

Dr. Morrissey earned his doctor of medicine from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, followed by an additional year of clinical training in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease.
