Gavin McDermott

Gavin McDermott is a Managing Director at Kaufman Hall and co-leads the firm’s Financial Planning & Data Analytics practice.

He serves as a senior advisor to healthcare executives, providing strategic guidance across capital markets, financial planning, strategic partnerships, and performance improvement. His planning advisory work includes developing business cases for major capital investments, facilitating partnerships, building multiyear financial plans, and designing capital allocation frameworks. In the capital markets, Gavin advises on a broad range of public and private financing transactions. His expertise spans fixed- and variable-rate structures, private placements, advance refundings, and credit-enhanced instruments such as letters of credit and standby bond purchase agreements.

Gavin has extensive experience working with a diverse array of healthcare organizations, including specialty hospitals, physician groups, independent community hospitals, academic medical centers, and large multistate health systems.

Gavin is a CFA® charterholder and holds a BA in economics from the University of Michigan.
