This health care administration fellowship offers the unique opportunity to support Vizient’s Comparative Data and Performance Improvement strategic plan with a focus on leveraging data to produce meaningful insights to drive change.

The Healthcare Analytics Fellowship role

Fellows engage in quantitative analysis, project management and collaborative efforts with internal stakeholders and members and use data analysis to help quality and clinical staff develop strategies to improve performance and drive innovation. You’ll also play a key role in enhancing current products and services – focusing on data-driven performance improvement tools – and developing new analytics to better serve our members’ needs.

Healthcare Analytics Fellows will finish the program with:

  • A more expansive view of how informatics enables you to effectively leverage data and drive innovation forward
  • A comprehensive understanding around the importance of data transparency and how to develop data-driven solutions and provide actionable insights to Vizient’s member base across quality, cost and market performance
  • A leadership perspective in product strategy management that will enable you to strategically optimize analytical tools and insights to meet today’s most pressing healthcare issues

Our fellowship journey

Here’s a brief overview of where we’ve been and where we’re headed:

1992 to 2010: The Alexander Schmidt Fellowship was a two-year opportunity centered on health technology assessment, clinical research and pharmacoepidemiology. Nine fellows graduated from this program — many of whom still work at Vizient today — and went on to publish various abstracts based on their epidemiological and pharmaceutical research.

2010 to 2024: Vizient sunset the Alexander Schmidt Fellowship program — replacing it with the current day Quantitative Fellowship program, which focuses on advanced analytics, informatics and product strategy management under David Levine.

2024 and Onwards: Vizient rebranded the Quantitative fellowship program as the Healthcare Analytics fellowship.
