Part 4 of the 2019 Medical Leadership Series

Physician leaders may be unprepared for changes in quality payment programs. Their lack of awareness or compliance can result in severe payment penalties. Experts will highlight regulatory activities from 2019 that have affected physician leaders. They will discuss newly introduced Alternative Payment Models (APMs), updates to telehealth payment rules, the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and the rule changes for 2020. This information will lay the groundwork for physician leaders to be prepared for these changes.

Learning objectives:

  • Outline the 2020 changes to quality payment programs, including eligibility requirements, virtual groups and facility-based reporting in the MIPS, as well as the MIPS Value Pathway (MVP)
  • Describe the outlook for APMs in 2020
  • Explain updated telehealth payment rules for 2020
