Supply Chain Leadership Series
University of Chicago Medicine’s (UMC) supply chain team has been on a journey to evolve value analysis to better approach total cost of ownership in a way that engages clinical stakeholders to understand the data and participate in the process. Using a business intelligence analytical tool, UCM has taken cost per case data, along with revenue, payer mix and other relevant data to create easy to understand comparative cost per case and margin per case tools. In this way, surgeons are engaged in total cost analysis and improving value as defined by quality divided by cost.
