Improving and Sustaining Sepsis Outcomes

Even with treatment protocols and a high level of national focus, sepsis continues to be the leading cause of death in hospitals in the United States. Research shows that 80 percent of sepsis deaths could be prevented with rapid diagnosis and treatment. With this in mind, 70 member hospitals committed to improving their patient care joined the Vizient Early Recognition and Intervention for Sepsis Management Collaborative. This program will examine how collaborative participants reduced their total sepsis mortality rate and sustained achievements.

This webcast is part of the 2018 series highlighting the work of Vizient’s Performance Improvement Collaboratives. Through these collaboratives, a growing community of leaders is advancing the performance of their organizations by focusing on issues vital to health care reform, through expert-led research and insights that examine processes for better patient care, improved operations, cost savings and more. Dealing with today’s issues while preparing for tomorrow’s changes, participating members have achieved top-tier performance in quality, safety and cost-effectiveness.
