Jody Hatcher leads Vizient’s supply chain services businesses. These include sourcing operations; supply chain operations; Member Business Ventures; non-acute contracting and services; Workforce Optimization contract labor management services; aptitude, the company’s online direct contracting market; Apexus, the HRSA-designated Prime Vendor for the 340B Drug Pricing Program; Acentrus specialty pharmacy; enterprise information and data management; and Vizient’s relationship with Kaiser Permanente. Additionally, he leads marketing and strategic communications for Vizient.

With more than 30 years of experience helping hospitals drive down supply costs, Hatcher previously served as president and chief executive officer of Novation, now part of Vizient. Under his leadership, Novation achieved record-breaking member savings and consistently increased member participation across its contract portfolio. Hatcher also spearheaded Novation’s investment to build world-class data assets and analytics that are key foundational components of Vizient’s industry-leading data and analytic solutions.

During his tenure with the company, Hatcher has led a number of key business areas, including: strategic sourcing; member and market research; strategic planning; comparative analysis; custom contracting services; regional contracting services; business development; information technology; operational improvement; collaboration and performance improvement networks; academic medical center networks; and marketing. He has also led a variety of key initiatives such as Novation’s first entry into the global marketplace through its partnership with DHL in the United Kingdom.

In addition, Hatcher continues to play a critical role in the company’s public policy efforts. In 2013, he affirmed the company’s position that the medical device manufacturers should not pass the medical device tax on to the member hospitals. Also, he has been instrumental in directing efforts that encourage the increased production of critical drugs and those drugs in short supply, thereby helping to mitigate the impact of the industry’s drug shortage crisis. In addition, Hatcher has served as Chairman of the Board for the Healthcare Industry Supply Chain Association, and he previously served for six years as a member of the Board of Directors for the Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) and its audit and compliance committee. He continues to play an active role in industry issues as a board member and chairman of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative, the healthcare industry’s initiative to promote best practices and ethics, and as an advocate for policies that best support Vizient’s member hospitals.

Hatcher earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Dallas.
