Dan Wolterman served as president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System from 2002 until his retirement in May 2016. Under his leadership, Memorial Hermann experienced year-over-year double-digit growth, becoming the largest not-for-profit health system in Southeast Texas.

Wolterman has more than 39 years of experience in health care executive leadership experience with four not-for-profit multihospital systems in Florida, Indiana, Utah and Texas. He currently serves on the boards of BactoByte, Inc., Legacy ER/Urgent Care, NuVasive, Inc., Saranas, Inc. and Zibrio, Inc.

As part of his long history of community service, Wolterman spearheaded the creation of the Memorial Hermann Community Benefit Corporation to build collaboration with other health care, government and business leaders and community stakeholders to identify and deliver viable solutions to the problem of the uninsured and underinsured in the Greater Houston area.

Wolterman has served as chair of numerous organizations, including the Greater Houston Partnership, Texas Hospital Association Board of Directors, American Heart Association — Houston Region and the 2011 National Senior Olympic Games. He also served as vice-chair of the 2017 Houston Super Bowl Host Committee and as a past board member of the United Way of Texas Gulf Coast chapter.

He has received numerous recognitions including Texas Business Hall of Fame inductee in 2015, the Texas Hospital Association Earl M. Collier Award for Distinguished Heath Care Administration in 2012, the American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion Award in 2007, and the Health Access Texas Public Health Award in 2008. He was voted one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine for the years 2008-2015.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in business administration — finance from the University of Cincinnati. He also earned a master’s in health care administration from Xavier University.
